Generalist Game Programmer

Generalist Game Programmers at F84 work closely with design, art, and animation departments to build and implement gameplay features and systems for games across a variety of platforms including mobile, web, and console. Generalist will float across frontend and backend programming roles, as well as provide support and development capabilities for tools and sites that augment our games.

Our programmers commonly work in Unity3D as well as a proprietary HTML5 game engine.

The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient individual who has strong programming and 3D math skills.

Essential Duties

  • Implement gameplay features within established game frameworks
  • Design and implement modifications, reorganizations, extensions, and other refactoring and optimization to existing code bases
  • Develop and implement reusable systems from scratch
  • Implement and maintain tools that improve workflow and expose features to designers and other content creators
  • Provide time estimates to leads and management; keep co-workers informed about progress of programming deliverables
  • Other duties may be assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Highly proficient with application programming languages
  • Ability to adhere to the prevalent coding style and practices, including source control standards
  • Understanding of procedural and object-orientated programming paradigms

Desired Skills

  • Proficiency in C#, C++
  • Proficiency in a scripting language such as Python
  • Familiarity with commonly used mobile languages (Objective-C, Swift, Java)
  • Familiarity with web stacks, languages, and web technologies (PHP, Javascript, Node, AWS, MySQL)
  • Willingness and ability to learn and adapt to new programming languages, frameworks, and systems

F84 is seeking motivated and talented interns interested in gaining video game design & development industry experience. Internships at F84 Games are for credit only. This means that our internships are unpaid and students who participate are required to be receiving academic credit for their participation in the internship program. Interns at F84 Games are required to work a minimum of 16 hours per week. F84 is always accepting applications, however the studio receives many internship applicants, so in order to be considered we recommend applying at least one month but no more than 3 months prior to the beginning of your desired intern semester.
